Summer 2013 (Part 2)

By hook or by crook I am going to get caught up on organizing pictures!!  So here are the rest of the pictures from this summer:

Watching a movie at costco

 FOURTH OF JULY

Our neighborhood had a bike parade on the fourth so we dressed up in red, white and blue and gave Andrew a flag.  We got to follow a firetruck and a big group of people in a parade around the neighborhood.

Later that day we rode our bikes to a park to watch a laser light show (since there was a fire ban)

JILL AND ANDREW'S BIRTHDAY

We came back from our weekend in the Valley in time to go to church in our ward.  Sunday was mine and Andrew's birthday!

We had already celebrated with cake and icecream in the valley so we didn't do much that day except walk to the park and roast to death!

On Monday we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and I had some awesomely delicious prime rib

Alex was not a fan.  

It was family night at the restaurant so the boys got balloon animals and ice cream sundaes.  That night was also the super moon.  so cool!

Family Pics

We were going to take these a few weeks ago but then Alex broke his arm and as unimportant as this sounds...he didn't have any clothes to wear except for his brother's t-shirts!  I wanted a new picture for the frame in our living room and knew we needed to do these sooner rather than later so I splurged and bought him a new sweater at Target that could stretch over his cast...and then a new shirt and scarf for me.  $40 on clothes and taking our own pictures is a lot cheaper than $100 for a photographer...at least that's what I told Robert :)  It's kind of disgusting to think that I paid that much for those clothes though considering I could have found something comparable at Goodwill for a quarter of the price!  But time was of the essence since I had put off getting our clothes ready until two hours before we were meeting a friend at the park for pictures.  They took our pictures and we took theirs.  It worked out great!  

Thank goodness for photoshop!  out of the 20 or so pictures of this one pose there wasn't a single one with BOTH boys looking at the camera so I was able to splice two of them together.  If you look closely at this one you can see that I need to fix my elbow!

I thought that letting Andrew bring Chupacabra along would help him be cooperative.  It kind of worked :)

 tender, right sandee?  :)  At this point Andrew peed his pants and was starting to take them off!  It was freezing cold, he was soaked and I didn't have an extra pair for him.  

notice Alex's pants are unbuttoned.  I think him wearing Andrew's "slims" isn't going to work.  that kid needs "husky"!

Alex didn't want anyone to hold his hands and Andrew kept reminding us that he was wet lol  photoshoot done!

haha Robert called this his my-mom-is-Jill face.  whatever that was supposed to mean :)

We snapped a couple more when we got home (and changed roo out of his wet pants) just to make sure we had one with all four of us looking at the camera.  you know, because it's not everyday that all four of us are bathed and dressed in clean clothes.  and that's the honest truth!!

I think this out take is my favorite!

After half a bag of marshmallows, being bundled up in blankets, and ordering dominoes pizza, they had forgiven their parents for one hour of torture fun!

  

Trunk-or-Treat

We had lots of fun at our ward's trunk or treat tonight.  Andrew was looking forward to it all day was so excited to see all of kids' costumes in the ward.

At dinner Andrew loaded his bucket up with corn bread muffins for him and Alex :)  And yes that is Cinderella in the background...wearing a beautiful dress she sewed herself!  Her husband was in a Prince Charming costume that she made as well.

The Toy Story gang!  We called Alex "Rex" but if I had more time I would have changed his costume into a little green alien.  Do you see Andrew's face?  He. could. not. wait!

Summer 2013 (Part 1)

Turns out I have a bunch of pictures from this summer that I had forgotten about.  60 to be exact!  Here you go Sandee, more pictures of us than you ever wanted to see!

ICE CREAM - Wednesday, June 26

Not sure what I was telling Robert, but it sure looks important!

They serve frozen custard that is to die for! 

See, here's proof.  Alex looks like he's died and gone to heaven with that ice cream running down his chin :)

Ironically, it was just down the street from our apartment but we hadn't ever gone there.

TRIATHLON - Saturday, June 29

Pretty sure my thoughts in that picture weren't "Did I leave the iron on?"  More like "AHHHH!!  AHHHH!  AHHHHH!!!"  Yeah, that's about right.

I had practiced an open water swim at the reservoir the Saturday before and it freaked me out.  It was very unnerving to not be able to see anything and not know where the bottom was.  I worked through the fear though and was feeling the most confident about the swim portion.  Andrew was really mad that he couldn't get in the water.

In the water waiting for the starting horn.  I finished in the middle of the pack on the swim portion.  It was so much harder than I thought it would be!  I got caught in the mass of swimmers and we just kept hitting and kicking each other.  

Waving at Andrew who was cheering loud for me :)  I had waaay too much energy left after the swim.  The bike leg didn't go as well as planned either.  I got passed by a lot of old ladies.  Talk about a shot to the pride :) 

I did the best on the running leg, which was the one that I felt the least prepared for.  It was weird to transition from biking to running but it felt good to pass people! By the end I thought I was going to die!  It was soooo much harder than I thought it would be.  The triathlon made the 5K Cross Country meets seem like a cake walk!

It was fun though and I enjoyed having Robert and the boys there to cheer me on!

I had some energy bars and snacks in my registration bag as well as some free stuff from booths that the boys had fun snacking on.  I also got a free fish taco and tortilla chips!

It was a fun experience and fun to have motivation to ride my bike to the pool every day and a goal to work towards and then accomplish!  Here are my results:

I finished 55th out of 100 overall for the Super Sprint.  There were about 400 women who raced in the regular sprint (which was about double the distance).  And the chart breaks it down by each leg of the race.  I finished 45/100 on the swim, 87/100 (me and my mountain bike got our butts kicked!), and 38/100 on the run (booyah!).  It was a 1/4 mile swim, 8 mile bike, and 2 mile swim.

UTAH, FUNERAL, CAMPING, HIKING - June 30 and July 1-2

Robert's aunt Rosalie passed away (from lung cancer) so we drove out to Utah for her funeral.  On Sunday morning we went to the church early so I could take care of programs, then we went to sacrament meeting at 8:30 and then headed out on our 9 hour journey.  We  got to Oak City, Utah in time to go to the viewing at the church and conveniently we were still in our church clothes!  Monday afternoon was the funeral, graveside and then family dinner.  It was a really sad occasion but I'm glad we were able to go.  

On our way back home we camped in Rifle at Rifle Gap State Park.  It was 25 bucks for a tent site!  Atleast there were flushing toilets (that we had to drive to).  

This is what a 2 year old bouncing off the tent walls looks like...a blur!!

It was a nice night and fun to camp out (except for the fear of the bear that the people at the bathroom told us about).

Then we drove about an hour to Glenwood Springs to go on a hike that we have been really wanting to go on.

It was about 2.5 miles round trip and climbed 1,000 feet.  It was so beautiful!

When we got to the top, we stopped and rested for a bit, let the boys out of their packs, and ate some snacks.

The waterfall was loud and Andrew was nervous so he had a death grip on Robert's throat haha

Up above the water fall, was another one that was shooting out of the rock.

It was super loud and coming out with a lot of force!  

Andrew wouldn't go any where near it.  Smart kid!

Enjoying the view on the way back down since we weren't huffing and puffing and out of breath.  When we got back to the parking lot we were filthy and exhausted!  We cleaned up a bit in the bathroom and then walked around Glenwood Springs, had lunch then drove four hours home!
