TGI.....Sunday!

After our marathon first day at Disneyland, we were exhausted!  Luckily the next day was Sunday and we had already planned on just relaxing.  We "slept in" until 7:30, ate breakfast, then got ready for church.  We went to a ward that was nearby for sacrament meeting.  It's always interesting to see the similarities and differences between wards.  And as usual, I spent a majority of the meeting in the mother's lounge.  It doesn't matter how recently Alex has eaten, but there's just something about the sacrament hymn that makes him want to nurse and want to nurse now!  Which I'm not complaining about a comfy rocking chair and no rambunctious 2 year old while listening to speakers :)  There was also an amazing duet of Come Thou Fount.  It's always fun to see how mesmerized Andrew is whenever there is a musical number.  After church we came back to the hotel and crashed for a good four hours.  Thank goodness for blackout curtains!  Once we re-entered the world of the living (and ate), we decided to go find a beach and walk around.  We went to Newport beach and then to Huntington beach.

Can you imagine having a house that backed up to the beach?  What a life!

Not even sand will slow him down!  Newport Beach was kind of stinky and dirty though so we drove down the rode to Huntington Beach.

This beach was so cool!  Tons of beach volleyball nets, people playing music, a long board walk, lifeguard stands, surfers, restaurants, and a beautiful sunset!

The boardwalk.  There were also some oil rigs that were neat to see too.  Which reminds me of the sights we saw when first driving to the beach for Robert's training.  We had to drive through Long Beach to get there and there was a huge port.  It was unlike anything I had ever seen before!  We drove over huge bridges and saw tons of barges, cranes, and freight.  Like I said, I'd never seen anything like it before!  It boggled my mind to think of the logistics of shipping one small item and how in the world the whole system was organized.  So many containers that were stacked and waiting to be loaded on a semi truck or train car or stacked and waiting to be loaded on a barge.  They looked like tiny little building blocks.  And then the whole concept of a harbor/port and a waterway being used as a way to transport things.  My land locked brain hadn't ever seen something like that!
